Assignment #5 Napoleon Dynamite Critical Review

You are the one and only expert of your opinions.  Write about your specific opinions about the specific elements from Napoleon Dynamite that stood out to you.  You can write about specific characters, actors, overall character development, dialogue, cinematography, story, plot, etc.

Include a picture relating to Napoleon Dynamite (movie poster, etc.) to begin your review just like I did for this post.

This critical review will be written in paragraphs and be at least 200 words.
When referencing character’s or actor’s names make sure you spell them correctly with capital letters beginning each name.

1)  Begin your critical review with a general synopsis of the story (short summary- 2 sentences maximum) followed by your overall opinion of the film.  Do not include spoilers anywhere in your review.

2-4)  Go in to detail about your opinions and the film elements that support your opinions.  Write about each element in its own paragraph. Include examples from the film to support your opinionsFor example, if you liked/disliked the character Napoleon Dynamite/Kip/Uncle Rico/Deb/Pedro, you could write a paragraph about what you liked/didn't like about the character citing examples from the film. (3 paragraphs minimum).  There are many specific characters you could focus on in your paragraphs

5)  Conclude your review with a final paragraph summarizing your opinion and giving a final recommendation (thumbs up, thumbs down, 3 out of 4 stars, C+, etc.).  You choose how you will grade each film, but use the same grading system for each film review.

This outline will give you a 5 paragraph critical review.  You can write more than 5 paragraphs if you so desire.

Olympus Has Fallen

The Internship

Upside Down

Oblivion

Now You See Me

copy and paste these film titles into your blog post for Assignment #2

After we watch each trailer you will have a few minutes to write 2 sentences for each film.

Assignment #1 Your Favorite Films

This is a film class.  We will watch films, and there will be written (typed) assignments that go along with the films  You must be here (obviously) to see the films.  Attendance is important.  If you are absent and miss seeing a film or part of a film, then you are responsible for seeing that film on your own time (renting it, netflix, cable, etc.).

For every film that we watch in class you will be responsible for a critical review of the film.  There are specific parameters and guidelines for writing these critical reviews.  You must complete the assignments correctly to get credit for them.

Every completed assignment will earn a grade from 1-10.

All assignments will be posted on this blog.  You can access this blog from any computer, tablet, smart phone with an internet connection.

Assignment # 1   Your Favorites

Choose your 3 favorite films and write 1 paragraph (at least 4 sentences) for each film.

In the paragraph you are going to write about why that film is your favorite.  Detail the reasons why this film is so good to you.  These are your opinions.  Do not tell me the story of the film.  I do not want to read a summary of the film   I need to know why each of these films are in your top 3.
